Suspence Building in my Book

Rick Riordan is one of my favorite authors because of his suspenseful books.  The last paragraphs of each chapter just leaves me jaw dropped and wanting to read more.  Since my book is told from different characters throughout the book, each character has their own individual corks in their personalities that make them different from every character.  The conflicts in each of these characters makes the book suspenseful because you always want to know what choice that specific character is going to make and how that will affect the story.  The farther I got into this book the more my interests augmented.  The House of Hades is a very action backed suspenseful novel.  If anyone that likes adventure novels with increasing suspense then you should read The House of Hades.  Here are 2 examples of suspense in the novel.

"Jump!" Annabeth told Percy.  They leaped into darkness, aiming for the doorway far, far below" (Riordan 414).
"Her fingernails grew into talons.  Her jaw unhinged, and her yellow teeth elongated into fangs" (Riordan 358).
