This quote is from the Choosing Ceremony where Beatrice must choose a faction. If you are wondering what the factions are I posted them in my last post. Beatrice is shaking and she has to choose a faction. Here is the quote:
"I open my eyes and thrust my arm out. My blood drips onto the carpet between the two bowls. Then, with a gasp I can't contain, I shift my hand forward, and my blood sizzles on the coals. I am selfish. I am brave," (Roth, 47).
This quote really proves that Veronica Roth packs as much suspence and action as she can into this story. So now that I know Beatrice chose Dauntless, I am leaning on my seat to learn what will happen to her in her initiation. I predict that she will survive intitiation and make her way to the top of the faction. I also predict that somebody will discover that she is Divergent.
